أَرْكَان Arqaan

Help

How Arqaan works, in short. If something here does not answer your question, the FAQ may, and otherwise email us and a person will reply.

Getting started

You need an account. Sign up with an email address and a password, with Google, or with Sign in with Apple on iPhone and iPad. The first run asks what time you would like your daily reminder; that time, and everything else it sets up, can be changed later in Settings.

Finding your way around

Hadi, the in-app assistant, sits on the button just above the tab bar.

Prayer times and location

Arqaan works prayer times out on your device, from your position, the date and a calculation method. Open the prayer times sheet to change the calculation method or the Asr school; the circled i beside the method explains what each one does and where it is used.

Location comes from your device when you allow it, or from a city you pick by hand. While your device is giving a location, that is the one the times use, even if a city is saved.

Calculated times can sit a minute or two from the board at your mosque, because methods and local conventions differ. Where they differ, follow your mosque.

Reminders

One daily reminder at the time you chose, plus reminders for individual prayers that you can turn on and off one by one: Settings → Notifications. If your phone is blocking notifications for Arqaan, nothing can be delivered until that is allowed — Settings → Manage permissions links straight to the system screen.

Permissions

Location is for prayer times and the qibla compass, motion is for the step count, and notifications are for reminders. All three are optional, each is asked for in the place that needs it, and Settings → Manage permissions shows where each one currently stands. The qibla dial can also be dragged by hand on a phone with no compass.

Your account and your data

Settings → Account holds your display name and handle, your email address and your password. Changing your email sends a link to both the old address and the new one; the change is done once you have opened both.

Download my data in Settings gives you a copy of your account, worship log and progress.

Delete account begins a 30-day grace period. Sign back in within those 30 days and Arqaan offers to keep the account, and tapping Keep my account is what cancels the deletion. Signing in alone does not cancel it, and closing that prompt without tapping leaves the deletion scheduled. Once the 30 days are up the account and everything attached to it is removed permanently. Without the app, you can ask by email: see Delete your account.

Something is not working

Settings → Support has Report a bug and Send feedback, which open your mail app with the right subject already filled in.

Email contact@hajify.com with what happened, what you expected instead, and which phone you are using. We reply within 3 working days.
